List of Low Carb Foods
Create Low Carb Diet on Your Own
Maybe the reason you are searching for a list of low carb foods is because you are own low carb diet. I want to tell you couple of words about low car diets.
Low carb diet’s main goal is to eat less carbs and to achieve weight loss. Carbs mean calories and from here: low carb diet means low calorie diet. Can you see the idea? The idea is to eat less calories or just to eat less.
Do you know that carb and protein have the same calorie value?
1 gram protein is 4 calories
1 gram carbohydrate is 4 calories
1 gram fat is 9 calories
The reason that low carb diets exist is that protein is responsible for sustaining muscles (which people consider as useful) and carbs are guilty for gaining fat (which people consider as unwished).
Back to calorie value of the three main food ingredients. You see that 1 gram of fat has 2 times more calories. In my opinion good diet is combination of
40% protein
40% carbs
20% fat
Before giving you my list of low carb foods, a couple of words about good and bad carbs. Eating good carbs is not bad even for your low carb diet. Good carbs give you energy for a long time. For example oatmeal: energy released after eating is distributed for several hours and you have time to spend this energy.
When you eat a chocolate bar: your body receives a lot of energy for a short period and if you don’t spend this energy immediately, which more likely you will not do, it accumulates like fat around your body.
The main difference between good and bad carbs is energy release time. Good (slow) carbs give you slow releasing energy for a long time and bad (fast) carbs are absorbed very quickly to give you instant energy which you don’t have the chance to use.
